Refresh your MHFA knowledge and skills with an Accredited MHFA Refresher Course

The MHFA Refresher Course is for anyone who has trained in Mental Health First Aid within the last three years and wants to remain effective and confident in their role as an MHFAider by refreshing their MHFA skills and knowledge. Delegates have six months from when their MHFA certificate expires to complete the course.

MHFA Refresher Course Content:

Over half a day’s learning (4 hours), you’ll gain knowledge and skills in the following areas:

General discussions regarding changes to mental health
Updated knowledge of issues which can affect and trigger mental ill-health, like new and evolving forms of stress
Mental health perceptions, misconceptions and stigmas
Updated frames of reference and non-judgemental conversations
Refreshed practice of supportive conversations using ALGEE
New and existing early warning signs and symptoms of mental ill-health
Updates surrounding depression and anxiety
Further discussion around first aid for suicidal crisis and prevention of suicidal crisis.
Refreshed practice of MHFA skills
Independent self-care, wellbeing and recovery
An updates list of new, useful resources

MHFA Refresher Course Format

Here’s what you need to know…

LENGTH

The course is delivered
over four hours from 9am – 1pm or from
1pm – 5pm.

COST

The course is £150
per person.

FORMAT

The course can be delivered online or in-person. The course is a mix of instructor-led sessions, discussions and group activities.

SIZE

Groups sizes are kept to a maximum number
of 16 delegates per course but most
courses are often smaller than this.
