MHFA Refresher

The MHFA Refresher is for anyone who has trained in Mental Health First Aid within the last three years and wants to maintain their skills by refreshing their MHFA knowledge. Delegates have six months from when their MHFA certificate expires to complete a Refresher Course.

Ideal for: Anyone who has completed their two-day Mental Health First Aid Course 
Length: Half day
Course cost: £150pp

The MHFA Refresher Course covers:

General discussions regarding changes to mental health

Updated knowledge of issues which can affect and trigger mental ill-health, like new and evolving forms of stress

Mental health perceptions, misconceptions and stigmas

Updated frames of reference and non-judgemental conversations

Refreshed practice of supportive conversations using ALGEE

New and existing early warning signs and symptoms of mental ill-health

Updates surrounding depression and anxiety

Further discussion around first aid for suicidal crisis and prevention of suicidal crisis

Refreshed practice of MHFA skills

Independent self-care, wellbeing and recovery

An updates list of new, useful resources


Why take the course?

To continue to help and support mental health in the workplace, ongoing conversations and training must continue. This way, employees can be confident in their knowledge and abilities when it comes to supporting mental health in the workplace. MHFA Refresher Courses can help participants feel confident with up-to-date knowledge should they need to be called upon in the event of a mental health crisis.

The Refresher course supports Mental Health First Aiders by:
