This MHFA course is designed to equip learners with a thorough understanding of mental health, how to spots signs of mental ill-health and how to support mental health. Designed for employees, employers, groups and individuals, from HR to management to a frontline role, the course is for anyone interested in supporting wellbeing in the workplace. All of the delegates who complete the MHFA course will become certified Mental Health First Aiders by MHFA England


What you’ll learn:

Over two interactive days (online or in-person), you’ll gain understanding, knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Using Mental Health First Aid for a range of situations and action-plan for using MHFA

  • Mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders,
    eating disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and psychosis. Risk factors, symptoms and treatment
    will also be explored.
  • Key information regarding mental health stigma and discrimination. Exploration around how it
    presents and how to combat it.
  • Learning about key suicide figures as well as first aid for suicidal crisis

  • Self-harming behaviours and an understanding of crisis intervention

  • Self-care techniques and other mental health skills such as non-judgemental listening

  • How alcohol and drugs can impact on mental health

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that affect wellbeing

  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental ill-health

  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress

  • Develop skills such as non-judgemental listening

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their mental health by signposting them to further support.
    Signposting may include: self-help resources, counsellor/ therapist, HR/ employer, the NHS

Length: Two days

Cost: £325pp

Format: Online or face-to-face in a classroom setting. The course is delivered over four sessions. The course is a mix of instructor-led sessions, group discussions and activities.

Group size: Small groups (max. 16)
