This course is for employees, employers, groups and individuals looking to train in Mental Health First Aid. All delegates who complete the course will be certified a Mental Health First Aider by Mental Health First Aid England, for
3 years.

For employees or staff members who are looking to become a Mental Health First Aider within an organisation, the two-day Mental Health First Aid Course is the right course.

Employees who become a qualified Mental Health First Aider, will have:

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental ill-health
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Develop skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their mental health by guiding them to further support. Signposting includes: self-help resources, HR/employer, the NHS.

The two-day Mental Health First Aid course will cover:

  • Mental Health First Aid for a range of situations and action-planning for using MHFA.
  • The basics of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, eating disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and psychosis. Risk factors, symptoms and treatment options are all explored.
  • Key information about mental health stigma and discrimination. Exploration of how it can present and how to combat it.
  • Key suicide figures, as well as first aid for suicidal crises
  • Self-harming behaviours and an understanding of crisis intervention.
  • Self-care techniques and other mental health skills such as non-judgemental listening.
  • Alcohol, drugs and how they impact mental health.

Through group activities, presentations and discussions, each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.

We can deliver Mental Health First Aid training to a maximum of 16 people per course. Small groups mean the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn and the delegates can feel comfortable enough to discuss sensitive topics.

Upon completion of the course, everyone receives:

  • A copy of the workbook to support their learning
  • A digital manual to keep and refer to whenever required
  • A wallet-sized reference card
  • ​​After the course has been completed, all delegates are eligible to join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders – England’s first and only membership body for MHFAiders, and the largest community of its kind.
